Farmers Producers Origination is a type of Farmers organization with only farmer members. The FPO is being supported by government agencies like Small Farmers Agribusiness Association (SFAC), NABARD.
Basically, an FPO can be a farmer's origination, a society, a cooperative, a union, a federation or even a firm that has been established to promote the interests of farmers. The main objective of FPO is to provide services that help growers in their cultivation and post-harvest activities. Linking small and retail growers / farmers to the market is an important motivator for relevant policy. Production and productive integration are needed to take advantage of the large economy in production and to streamline agricultural mechanization and sources of inputs. After harvest, integration is required to exchange services such as storage, processing, packaging and transportation and to send the product directly to the market. Such FPOs enable producers to progress in initiatives such as value chain and ease of operation such as input supply, credit, tool bank, seed production, primary and secondary processing and marketing, in addition, they reduce transaction costs for process stakeholders. Farmers producer organizations or collectively have the tools to enable small and marginal farmers to successfully participate in regional, national and global value chains. Farmers Producers originations help to develop the framework of social capital and decentralized governance among the rural masses. FPOs are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equality and solidarity, voluntary and free membership, democratic farmer member control, autonomy, farmer cooperation and community concern.
